The Bridge of Lions is being rebuilt (photo taken 2-7-2008) - the old 
bridge towers are in the middle - to the left is the temporary bridge.

 The Great Cross as seen from Hospital Creek.  The cross
was erected in 1965 - to commemorate the 400th anniversary 
of the Spanish Mission Nombre de Dios.



    Castillo de San Marcos 
As seen from the water - one of the many St. Augustine
 landmarks you will see on your kayak trip.  Started in 1672 -
it took 23 years for the Spanish to complete the fort.  
The front wall is 19 feet thick and withstood bombardment by cannon.
